Goathland and the surrounding areas offer many walking opportunities, catering for all levels of fitness.
From walks on relatively flat public footpaths, to longer and more challenging routes ascending and descending the rugged moorland terrain, those who enjoy the outdoors will find that it's possible to leave the car parked in the driveway and explore the local area by foot.
For some initial inspiration, details of some shorter walks can using the links to the right. Descriptions of each route are provided along with GPX tracks for use with a suitable navigation app.
Note that all routes include at least some degree of ascent/descent, and paths are typical of countryside walking and include sections of uneven ground, with some areas prone to becoming boggy after periods of wet weather. Appropriate footwear should therefore be worn for walks carried out in the area.
